Jenn's Grand Adventure, The Sequel...Part One?

Saturday started eventfully, with an argument between my parents.  Something about fish and my brother's enormous appetite.  I do have to agree on this, although I probably wouldn't yell and scream about it.  He is kind of eating us out of house and home.  I had to draw the line when he guzzled an entire bottle of my soy and vanilla chai tea the other day.  I started to regret bringing them along on the way to San Luis Obispo because the drive was incredibly awkward, but I didn't really want to stay in SLO by myself, and by the time we got there and unpacked, things were resolved.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo, which was right next to a shopping center where there was a Borders, a Starbucks and a Cost Plus World Market, which made me very happy, but I was looking forward to seeing some of the shops on Garden Street, so I didn't spent any time at the shopping center, but I did see some lovely shops elsewhere.

The hotel was amazing.  I would have taken pictures, but I didn't want to look like a creep.  There was an atrium in the lobby, glass elevators, and my dad was thrilled at the mention of "complimentary breakfast."

I got ready around three and then, walked around with the parents for a while. Vintage clothing shops, dog boutiques, and lots of other cool places, but I didn't spend a whole lot of time wandering. We arrived at the venue around 6:00 and I ran into some nice people, including a man who said to me, "Did you see Sean?"

I hadn't, so I shook my head and he said, "well, he's around the corner."

So now I'll admit that over the course of the past few weeks, there has been a lot of posturing on my part. I told myself over and over again that I would not waste yet another opportunity. Those of you who have been around since November know that I passed him outside the El Rey Theater, but was too much of a chicken to go up and at least say hi. And to those of you new to my friends list, now you know. :) Anyway, it's something I've been kicking myself for ever since, even if I didn't realize it at the time.

My dad, who was hanging around outside while my mother was looking around in some shop, said, "Oh, let's go!" Honestly, I think he was more excited than I was. I was more concerned with the sorry state of my hair, wondering just why the hell I hadn't done a slightly better job it, as I had just thrown it up in the same messy ponytail I wear almost every day. Anyway, Dad was scurrying along, pulling me with him, and there was Sean. Now Dad and I have been having this discussion since last night. I told him that Sean was surprisingly short, while Dad insists that he's taller than he expected. What do you all think?

I have to say, Sean is just gorgeous in person. My dad and I approached him and said hi and all that jazz and then he signed my Friendly Fire booklet. We talked for a little bit and he is incredibly nice. To my everlasting embarrassment, though, my dad, a very gregarious fellow, told him that I attended his L.A. show in 2006 and didn't approach him because I was too shy. I must have turned about ten shades of red, but he just smiled and laughed and said, "Aww, why?" So, so sweet! I'm not nearly as intimidated anymore. Sean is not scary.

My Friendly Fire booklet thing. It scanned wonky, but oh well.

I hopped back over to the line and talked with some more nice people while we waited for the doors to open. They finally did around 7:00 and we all filed in. I ended up in the second row, and if I'd had my damn Canon Powershot, my pictures would have been amazing. Alas, all I had was my little old Fuji Fine Pix and a bouncy subject. so needless to say, my pictures are less-than-stellar. Actually, they're awful, but they're mine, so I have to love them. Also, my flash is awful and it blinds me and everyone within a 5 mile radius when I use it, so that said, here are my non-flash, somewhat blurry photographs, but they do give you an excellent look at his lovely lavender and cream ensemble. I think the camera was more of a hinderence, which is another reason the pictures aren't exactly plentiful, but enjoy anyway.

This was when he and Kamila Thompson joined Women and Children for their final song. I adored the opening acts, but don't have any pictures of them. The few that I did take are of Sean.

For whatever reason, I like this one.

It would seem that I got distracted at some point and now it's past midnight, so I'll post a proper recap tomorrow sometime. So tired, and I've just remembered I have a quiz bright and early tomorrow morning!

Current Mood: excitedexcited

Aww, so awesome you got to meet him! I was shy and didn't meet him at the Austin gig. But I did hear he wasn't really waiting around for autographs... maybe there'll be another time LOL Yesss, he is short. Of course I haven't met him, but judging by photographs (particularly the famous one with Dhani), I knew Dhani was kinda short and Sean looked like he was standing eye-to-eye with him so I was like, OMG he's short too! LOL But I think it makes them cuter ;)

Thanks for the recap and the pics! I didn't take many pics of the opening acts, either, but I had to take some of Women and Children (particularly the male singer) 'cos he was hottt and his singing was also hot LOL Oh, btw, going back to the topic of Sean+Dhani, if you haven't already please join ohn0 - it's a Seanhi community I'm co-modding :D

There's always another time! I was so mad at myself after the L.A. gig because I had a chance and I blew it. No worries, you'll have another chance.

Is Dhani short? He always struck me as being tall, but maybe you're right, hehe. If he and Sean were at eye-level...he probably is. I'd say Sean was a hair taller than I am and I'm about 5'8.

And I'll definitely join. :)

Aw, yhay!

I think Sean is a litttle taller than Dhani but that is a stretch LOL I mean, look at the icon XD

I can't tell...they look about the same height. Maybe Sean is a little taller.

I love Dhani's expression.

Yeahhhh, I read Dhani is like 5'6 so I was like, oh my gawd, that means Sean is a shrimp too :3 LMAO j/k. You could also really tell Dhani was short in Concert for George, esp standing next to Paul. Oh well, they inherited more of their mother's genes in that area :)

Haha, aww, shrimp? Poor guy!

I don't know why Dhani always seemed tall to me. I never realized he was a little on the short side...hm. Well, you learn something new every day!

Ah! See, I was right. He is shorter!

And he really is. It was so strange, seeing him in person, and seeing that he's actually very...pretty? I'm not sure that's exactly right, but I think I'm getting my point across, anyway. Not classically handsome, but very sweet-looking.

I'm dead and ever so jealous. So, so, so jealous.

And Sean just seems too adorable.

Oh! Oh! He is! I nearly died of embarrassment when my dad told him what I did in L.A. but he was so sweet.

You need to see him in concert and then meet him. You really do!

I bet! Times two, even!

I do! He really should go on a (many?) European tour! And even then probably wouldn't be able to meet him since I live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere... but one day. *dreams*

Come to the U.S next time around! He did tour Europe, but no stops in Sweden. :(

You need to join the message board!

you met him?!
you talked to him??!

im so jealous im about to cry
I got to listen to people bitch at work because we charge for the paper bags and yoou were chatting with Sean Lennon

oh I love him so!

and your photos dont work, did you get a photo of you two together?

Don't be! You just need to go where he goes next time. He toured extensively in Europe.

He's lovely.

Photos are fixed, and no, I didn't get a photo of us together. My hair had a mind of its own that day!

yeah, typical, I finally get to go back to london and the only shows he has coming are in June in the US.
damn all!

Loovely photographs.

He seems to tour a lot, so I'm sure he'll be back in Europe soon. And if not, you'll just have to come to him, I suppose. :)

Hehe, thanks. Glad you think so. Oh, it hurts my heart to think about how great the photos would have been if I'd only had my Canon Powershot. *sigh*
